Monmouth

Our weekend was complete with a great visit to our friends in Monmouth. We walked, talked, ate, played Risk, and read newspapers - just fab.

Great pub for lunch - classic.
Athers gives up waiting for the girls!

Bath

We decided on our way to Wales that we would visit Bath. Neither of us could decide whether we had in fact visited Bath before. It transpired I had, but a second visit was well worth it.
The Roman Baths were just excellent. I actually could image a roman walking around the corner. Then - one actually did!!
The best bit - which might not be clear in the photos - is the steam rising from the baths. Our earth is amazing, producing hot water from the ground!

Winchester

Jane Austen's last house.

In the precincts.

We went to vivist friends in Winchester and it made me realsie how lovely Hampshire is as a county. These pictures are some of the few moments when it didn't rain! We spent time in great pubs and ate delicious food. The farmer's market on Sunday morning was just brilliant - lots of produce from down the road sold by the people who produced it. How the small things now please me. The things I scoffed at in my younger years are now some of favourite things.

Snowy April

All change in terms of weather today. I woke up and looked out the window and found our garden was covered with snow. So, we decided to go on a snowy walk around the village.

We saw some intrepid adventurers. Some confused lambs looking for their mummies.
Kentish picture postcard views.

Just lovely. All finished off with a cup of tea; the soft sofa and an episode of Cranford!

Beautiful Spring Flowers

Our beautiful garden flowers, in lovely afternoon sunshine - taken about a month ago!

The small things in life!

After another busy day involving making electric circuits with 30 kids, referee hockey games and balancing over unset concrete to lock the school door I encountered the wonders of small things. My husband and I sat down to a delicious dinner - with lovely WolfBlass yellow label wine - and discussed the day at length. Wonderful.
